With a few good acai smoothie recipes, you can achieve your nutrition goals while enjoying the refreshing taste of fruit smoothies. 

Breakfast smoothies are a great way to kick start your day and get your daily nutrition from the start. Plus, studies show that if you start off your day on a healthy note, you are more likely to make healthy choices for the rest of the day.

However, one of the most common excuses for eating poorly is “I just don’t have the time.” Admittedly, it’s easy to just jump in your car and run through the fast food joint on the way to work.

It’s just as quick and easy to make a smoothie as it is a cup of coffee and some toast, and quicker than eating cereal. Or, plan ahead, perhaps on a Sunday afternoon as you prepare for your week, and make your own “smoothies to go.” Simply take your favorite acai smoothie recipes, and make an extra big batch.  Pour it into five different freezer-proof cups, cover, and freeze. And voila! There’s your “to go” breakfast for the entire week!

So, you might be wondering, what is acai and why should I add it to my smoothie recipe? Acai is being touted as one of the most nutritious fruits on the planet. It is packed with antioxidants, fiber, protein, essential fatty acids, amino acids, beta-sitosterol (the plant sterol that is believed to help fight cholesterol), and essential vitamins and minerals. Based upon this acai berry information, you can only assume that adding this berry to your daily diet can add to your overall health.

However, acai berry only grows in the Amazon in Brazil; and it spoils within hours of being picked. Therefore, the rest of the world has to enjoy acai in different forms other than the fresh acai berry. The most common acai products are acai juice, acai berry powder, and acai berry supplements. For the purpose of adding acai to your favourite recipes, acai powder or acai juice is the best.

Making an acai smoothie is simple. Just take your favorite recipes, and add acai! If you are using acai powder, then you literally don’t need to change a thing; “just add acai,” one scoop or whatever the instructions call for.

If you prefer to use acai juice, you might need to alter your recipe just a tad so it doesn’t get too watery. If your recipe calls for milk or fruit juice, simply replace it with the same amount of acai. Or, just add a little more fruit and/or ice to thicken up the smoothie a bit. It’s that simple! Practically no effort at all to add incredible amounts of nutrition to your daily diet.
