Health Benefits of Acai Juice
If you’ve heard about acai berry, then you’ve heard of the health benefits of acai juice.
Acai (pronounced “ah-sigh-ee”) is a small fruit that is found only in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil. It is similar in appearance to a blueberry, but a little darker. But the most fantastic part about this little super-fruit is the long list of potential health benefits of acai juice.
You see, the acai berry just might be one of the most nutritional foods on the planet. Acai research has shown that acai is simply exploding with antioxidants, fiber, amino acids, essential Omega acids, phytonutrients and plant sterols (including a high concentration of beta-sitosterol), vitamins, and minerals.
This amazing information has led to a lot of speculation as to the health benefits of acai juice. Many acai berry products claim that benefits of acai include: acai weight loss, lower cholesterol, lower chance of heart disease and other diseases, increased energy, younger looking skin, better sleep, and even better sex!
However, the acai berry is still a relatively new “discovery” to those of us in the western world. Therefore, research is still being done and the actual benefits of acai have yet to be proven. Yet it is easy to see why everyone is so excited. Based upon the acai berry information that we do know to be fact, it only seems logical to see what daily consumption of pure acai juice might do for the body.
After all, we know for a fact that fiber helps with weight loss; because it fills us up and also prevents insulin crashes, which are what makes us crave bad food. So it might be logical, given that the acai berry has a high concentration of fiber, to assume that it might help with weight loss.
We also know, for a fact, that antioxidants help in not only cleansing out the body of toxins, but help in fighting free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that, thanks to toxins and other harmful things in our body, have lost an electron and are now unstable. These molecules attacks other molecules in hopes of stabilizing; but then the attacked molecules go on a rampage to become stable again, and the process snowballs; sometimes leading to damage or disease.
Antioxidants are the peacekeepers of the body, generously donating electrons to those in need, while not being affected themselves because they are stable in any situation. So daily consumption of antioxidants is imperative for good health; and since the acai berry has twice the antioxidants of blueberries and thirty times more than red wine, it’s easy to assume that a daily acai detox can help maintain a healthier body.
So, you can see why many products make claims that, on the surface, seem too good to be true. And you can see why others say it’s too early to make any of these assumptions. Basically, acai might prove to be a miracle berry; but it’s just too early to know for sure. It all depends on what you believe to be true. So don’t take it with the hopes of curing cancer or losing fifty pounds in a week; but enjoy it for the healthy sake of your body.
Despite all this conflicting information, one thing’s for certain: while it’s too early to prove the health benefits of acai juice, at the very least it can be a healthy addition to your daily routine.
