Great Diet Smoothie Recipes Tips
If you’ve decided to lose weight, you simply need a few great diet smoothie recipes. What better way to improve your health and lose weight than by starting off your day with a delicious breakfast smoothie? Or, making a smoothie for your mid-day snack helps give you that afternoon boost you need to get you through the rest of the day.
There are three key elements to making a perfect diet smoothie:
The first key to an effective diet smoothie is to add acai berry powder or acai juice (such as Mona Vie juice) to any recipe. Acai berry has more antioxidants than just about any other fruit on the planet; it is also high in fiber, essential fatty acids, and other nutrients that are vital to maintaining great health and helping you lose weight. By adding acai, you are ensuring your body gets many of the nutrients and antioxidants it needs to maintain good health.
You can substitute acai juice in any recipe that calls for fruit juice or milk. Or, you can just add a scoop of acai berry powder to any recipe, whether it calls for acai powder or not.
The second key to great diet smoothie recipes is to not be afraid to experiment. Smoothie recipes are not like other recipes where you need to follow the instructions to the letter. With smoothies, you can get a little creative. Experiment with fruit combinations to find your perfect balance. Enhance your smoothie with added protein powders, wheat grass, and, of as mentioned earlier, pure acai berry.
Also, don’t be afraid to cater your smoothie to your needs. A lot of diet smoothie recipes call for milk or yogurt. If you’re lactose intolerant, however, it doesn’t mean you can’t have a smoothie! Just substitute the milk with soy milk or almond milk; or, leave out the dairy entirely, and just add additional fruit and ice to thicken it up.
When people think of diet smoothie recipes, they automatically think of fruit smoothies. However, there are plenty of great vegetable smoothie recipes that are low-fat, low-calorie, and offer great nutrition.
Here is a great example of a diet smoothie recipe
Made of healthy vegetables instead of fruit:
Tomato Smoothie - 2 cups chopped tomatoes
- 1/2 cup tomato juice
- 1/4 cup MonaVie Acai Berry Juice
- 1/2 cup carrots
- 1/4 cup chopped celery
- Tabasco or hot sauce to taste
- 2 cups ice
The third key seems obvious, but needs to be stated: for a diet smoothie, you need to keep it low-fat and low-calorie. That means using only fresh fruit, and not frozen or canned, because frozen and canned fruit contain high fructose corn syrup and other sugars in packaging. If you use milk, use non-fat or skim. If you use yogurt, use low-fat yogurt.
Fruit does have a certain amount of natural sugars in it; but these are good sugars, if used in moderation. Plus, their nutrients are important enough to offset the natural sugar intake.
Now that you’re armed with these tips for great recipes, you can begin your new regimen and experience what a healthy diet can do for you!
