Acai Extreme; Too Good to be True?
Acai Extreme (also known as Acai Xtreme, but not to be confused with Acai Xtreme Sports Nutrition) is one of the many products on the market that seems to good to be true. And when it comes to certain products, if it seems too good to be true, then it most likely is.
Where this philosophy does not apply is to the acai berry itself. As you probably already know, initial acai berry research has shown that the acai berry just might be one of the most nutritious foods in the world...even earning it the term “superfood.” It is high in nutrients, trace minerals, fiber, beta-sitosterol, amino acids, essential fatty acids, and most importantly, antioxidants. It is at least two times as antioxidant as blueberries, and almost thirty times more than red wine.
Armed with this acai berry information, it seems that it would be difficult to go wrong with any acai product. But that couldn’t be any further from the truth.
Unfortunately, since the acai berry is so “new” to the western health industry, it is not yet regulated in any way. Just about anyone can slap together a product and label it a product of acai. A product can contain only 1% acai, and be called an acai product. Worse yet, a common method of processing the berry removes all the nutrients and antioxidants, rendering it useless; and many products use this method (note: make sure your product is freeze-dried, and not spray dried).
Additionally, while the acai has been proven to be chock full of nutrients, many products make certain claims about the health benefits of acai; and these may or may not prove be true. But these benefits are presented as fact, and are used to purposely mislead the consumer.
And finally, many of these companies who make fake acai products and make false claims also plan on taking your money, with or without your consent. They trick the consumer into giving them a credit card by promising a “free trial,” the only catch being that you pay for the shipping and handling. THIS is where the “if it seems to good to be true, it probably is” philosophy comes in. The catch is, once you receive your free trial, the company automatically charges you a high monthly fee to your credit card; and it’s nearly impossible to get them to stop.
So when deciding if Acai Extreme is the right product for you, compare it to a more well-known and reputable product, such as Mona Vie Juice. - Acai Extreme is only available via a “free trial” in which you pay for shipping and handling; Mona Vie is available through one of their thousands of distributors nationwide.
- Compare the ingredients. Acai Extreme lists chemicals such as magnesium, stearic acid, and calcium sulfite, among others. Mona Vie ingredients include nothing but the juice of 19 healthy fruits, including acai.
- How was it processed? Mona Vie is very clear that they use the freeze-dried method; Acai Extreme doesn’t really say.
When it comes down to it, why risk your money (and your health) with a product such as Acai Extreme, when there are plenty of reputable, great products such as Mona Vie widely available?
