Will an Acai Diet Help Me Lose Weight?

If you've been listening to all the hype, then you might be wondering if an acai diet can help you lose weight.  And the answer to that is a resounding:  maybe.  

Ok, at first that doesn't seem fair. But stick with me for a minute, and I'll explain why.

First of all, if you're reading this article then you've at least heard of this berry, and maybe have even heard some of the many potential health benefits of acai. Some people believe that the benefits of it may include everything from increased energy and lower cholesterol to improved sleep and better looking skin. Some even tout this potent little berry's power to improve your sex life!

But perhaps the most attention this berry has earned is its potential to help you lose weight if you stick to an acai diet.

Now, any smart marketer knows the financial gain to be made from an easy weight loss solution. People just love the idea of being thin and not having to work very hard to get there. And, unfortunately, when a super food like this comes along, it's easy to get taken for a ride by unethical companies just trying to make a buck.

However, if you've done your research and have read a lot of acai berry information, you might understand why weight loss on an acai diet might not be all hype.

That is because of the berry fruit nutrition facts. As you've most likely learned, this berry is at least two times more antioxidant than blueberries and pomegranate combined (which, until now, were the leaders in the world of antioxidant fruits). It contains large amounts of natural fiber, amino acids, Omega-3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, and nutrients.

As you may know, the Omega fatty acids are believed to increase metabolism; and fiber is a natural appetite suppressant, making you feel more full. Antioxidants help detox your body, getting rid of unhealthy free radicals that cause disease, and chemicals that make you gain weight.

Therefore, a healthy eating program balanced with regular exercise might benefit from an acai diet. While the berry research has yet to prove anything, some people believe that this berry will give you that extra “boost” you need in your wellness program.

However, if you have a mediocre diet and don't have time to exercise and hope that an acai berry pill will magically “melt away the weight,” be prepared to be disappointed. If you think that by simply drinking acai fruit juice every morning you will drop four dress sizes by the end of the month, you might believe that it's all a scam.

The “success” of an acai diet is a result of your expectations and your lifestyle. Working alone, it can't be a miracle pill. But in combination with a healthy diet and exercise, it might just prove to be a super food after all.
