Acai Berry Health Benefits: How Much to Believe?
It’s natural to wonder, when reading the countless promises of acai berry health benefits, how much of this is true?
After all, the words come rushing at you on nearly every website that offers an acai product.
- “Experience amazing berry weight loss! Watch the pounds just melt away!”
- “Cleanse your body with an berry detox! Prevent cancer and other diseases with just a small dose a day!”
- “Experience more energy, better sleep, better sex, younger looking skin, lower cholesterol, fewer seizures, better sense of well being, improved mood,” and so on.
We’ve all been taught the same thing since a young age; if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Unless, of course, you’re an acai berry.
You see, the conflict comes when you realize a few things. First of all, this berry is just too “new” to know anything for certain. So, while there are still years of berry research to be done, it doesn’t mean that nothing will be found. It doesn’t mean that, while we’re waiting for scientists to confirm what already makes sense, we can’t already be enjoying the acai berry health benefits.
Also, the FDA is, understandably, very hesitant to put their stamp of approval on any product. The FDA carries a lot of weight and a lot of responsibility; so plenty of products never do win “FDA approval,” although they are perfectly good products. Then again, there are plenty of dangerous and unhealthy products that never get the stamp either; and it’s nearly impossible for the average consumer to figure out or understand the difference.
On the other hand, in a capitalistic society it only makes sense that when there’s an opportunity to make money, some people will take full advantage of it. Especially in an industry such as healthy fruit juice industry, where it is so new that there aren’t yet any regulations. Because of this, it’s easy for consumers to “get taken.”
Just be aware that there are many companies out there who sell “acai products” and “supplements” that contain little or no acai.
Be aware that there are different ways to process the berry, and that process determines whether your product contains juice that preserved the nutrients and antioxidants (hint: you want products that use a freeze-dried method). If the process doesn’t preserve the nutrients and antioxidants, then they were evaporated; which means that this product is useless, and you won’t enjoy the acai berry health benefits.
And so, it’s up to you. It’s up to you to do your own research on the potential health benefits of acai. It’s up to you to read as much berry information as possible, and learn about the different berry products. It might take some time now, but once you found a product you can believe in, you’ve got nothing but a lifelong relationship in which you stand to reap great benefits.
