The True Acai Benefits
There’s a lot of press lately about the potential acai benefits on your health, and some of it seems contradictory. It can be confusing and of course, you want to do what’s best for your health; so what’s the truth about this berry?
As you probably already know, this fruit is the latest craze to hit the health industry. The market has been bombarded with a variety of acai berry products, including everything from pure acai juice and berry supplements to acai powder and healthy smoothies made from this fruit.
And each of these products makes varying claims about acai benefits and the impact on your health. The most common claim is in regards to berry weightloss. Plenty of products claim that by consuming this juice, you can literally just watch the pounds “melt away.” Others tout the natural energy boost you can get from this product, and others talk about the ability of this fruit to lower cholesterol and fight diseases.
But then you can read a report that says that none of these acai benefits are true, and that it’s just a healthy fruit. So what in the world are you to do?
First of all, congratulations on taking the time to research your options. Just the fact that you’re reading this article shows that you are taking the right steps in your research, and that you won’t fall for just any scam that comes your way.
Now, let’s get to the bottom of this! It’s important to know that there are opposing arguments for a reason. Actually, two reasons.
Basically, the contradictions are due to two factors:
It’s too early to tell. While the berry itself has been growing in the Amazon rainforest for thousands of years, it has only recently been “discovered” by the western health industry. It takes years of research before the FDA will claim any benefits of any food to be true; and that it is just too “new.” So any claims that you see listed on a product are speculation on behalf of the company who is trying to sell that product.
However, these assumptions are not entirely unfounded. Based upon the current berry information that we do know to be true, it holds a lot of promise. It is packed with antioxidants, fiber, Omega acids, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. We can only assume at this point what this information means and what the true acai benefits will prove to be.
The quality of your acai greatly affects how effective it is and therefore how good it is for you. Since this industry is so new, it is not yet regulated; and so any product that contains any amount of the juice can call itself an acai product. Some even have less than 1% of actual acai! Also, the quality of the product and how it is processed affect the effectiveness of the berry. Look for products made of the best acai, and only buy products made using the freeze-dried method.
